YOU ARE LIVING YOUR STORY

Hello peeps,

I apologize for my sporadic posting -- this school semester has been hectic!!

Here's something to hold you over, an instagram picture of my new wall art: "You are living your story." Seeing this quote above my bed has really helped me center myself. I feel so in control of who I am and what  I'm doing, and I'm so proud of the story I've lived so far.

What's your story?

CHAINS

A few months ago, I spotted this body chain in Forever21 and I simply HAD to have it. A body chain is the ultimate statement piece, combining accessory and apparel in a super cool, edgy way. Since the chain is so special, I paired it with a black leotard and harem pants so that it would really stand out. Complementing it with my half leather gloves seemed like the perfect combo

VIKTOR LUNA SS 2013

This Monday, I attended Viktor Luna's Spring/Summer 2013 presentation. Viktor Luna is one of my favorite Project Runway veterans (Season 9), whose aesthetic is "sophistication punctuated with dark sensuality and a punk rock pulse." Viktor's collection was the perfect combination of elegant and edgy; each piece had its own "Viktor" flare, from rhinestone embellishments to unique, signature prints to (of course) his iconic bowties. Luna makes a strong statement as a designer, and his presentation was absolutely amazing.

FNO: FROM THE MANNEQUIN'S EYE

Fashion's Night Out: the one night of the year where the elite, the street, and the eccentrics come together in the name of fashion. While the streets of NYC are usually cluttered with a well-dressed breed, last night was a complete fashion take over. The usual city buzz was complemented by camera flashes, loud music, bubbly champagne, and variations of "ooohs" and "ahhhs" reverberating through some of the most wide-known stores in the entire world.

My friends and I chose 5th ave as our stomping ground, and boy were we pleased. We spotted Hamish Bowles, Andre Leon Talley, Bill Cuningham, Robert, Verdi, and Kim K!

Though the fashion buzz continues with NYFW, there's nothing like the 'ra ra ra' of Fashion's Night Out. Here's to FNO 2012!

Starting the count down!

PART OF THEIR WORLD

Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free - wish I could be
Part of that world

I recently watched The Little Mermaid and realized I'm experiencing a bit of a 'mermaid-complex.' I'm in such a rush to graduate college, get a job, get my own place, be independent. But why am I in such a rush? The drive to progress and advance is absolutely fantastic; without it, we wouldn't have penicillin, sky scrappers, push up bras, etc. We're always looking straight ahead, but if we move too fast, everything around us becomes blurred. So last night I bought 10 ring pops for each of my fingers, put my hair in pigtail braids, and watched The Little Mermaid AGAIN (this time, singing all the lyrics).

This shoot was inspired by my mermaid-complex.

SPOTTED

My mom's a big fan of animal print, especially cheetah. So in this post I'm paying homage to my mother (on Father's day, so ironic!) Most people match a bold cheetah print with either white or black, but it's a bit too safe for me. Instead, I've paired these fabulous cheetah shorts with a blue oxford shirt; the look is crisp and super cute.

SCHIAPARELLI & PRADA: IMPOSSIBLE CONVERSATIONS

Last night, I had the privilege of attending the "Waist Up/Waist Down: An Evening of Schiaparelli & Prada: event at the Met. The event was designed in celebration of The Costume Institute's new Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit. Aside from the fabulous party and the exclusive viewing of the exhibit, I got to attend the amazing "Defining Chic: Then & Now" Panel Discussion with Francesca Granata (Assistant Professor of Fashion Studies, Parsons), The Man Repeller, The Sartorialist, and Lynn Yaeger (Vogue.com contributing editor).

There was champagne, strawberries, fabulous music, and the CLOTHES!! Everyone there was dressed to death--I spotted lots of chiffon, maxi dresses, hi low skirts, sequins, and lace. And people were sporting faux mustaches, lips, and glasses, a la the exhibit.

The exhibit was breathtaking, I strongly recommend you all check it out!!

I was in awe of everything! Each piece and it's inspo was mesmerizing

Each room was covered in beautiful quotes by both designers

I bought gorgeous postcards with some of the exhibit's designs

What I wore:
